Focus on What You Can Control
It's easy to get caught up in the belief that happiness is something we'll find once we achieve a certain goal or reach a specific milestone. But the truth is, happiness exists in the present moment - it's a state of being that we can access at any time.
Happiness is a choice, not a result.
When we shift our mindset and recognize that happiness is a choice, we empower ourselves to take control of our emotional well-being moment by moment. The access to our experience of personal power and freedom is choice. We can choose to focus on the good, cultivate gratitude, and find joy in the simple things.
Exercise: Shift Reactions to Choices
- Reflect on a recent situation where you had a negative reaction and write down what happened
- E.g) I got cutoff in traffic yesterday and I got mad, yelled at the driver and sped off.
- Now insert "I chose" into the situation
- E.g) I got cutoff in traffic yesterday. I chose to get mad. I chose to yell at the driver. I chose to speed off.

The Power of Being Present
Mindfulness can help you stay grounded, reduce stress, and find joy in the present moment, making your personal growth journey more fulfilling and rewarding. Take a few moments each day to pause and appreciate the present moment. Notice the sights, sounds, and sensations around you. Allow yourself to truly experience the richness of life and express thanks for all that you have.
The only time we truly experience is the present. Be mindful of how lingering in the past, which we cannot change, can rob us from the present moment. If you do find yourself continuously thinking about a past experience, reflect on the following questions:
- What do I need to be complete about this situation?
- What have I not been saying about it?
- How can I bring empathy, understanding and forgiveness to myself and others in the situation?
Gratitude is a Gift with no Limits… To Yourself!
Living with gratitude is a powerful practice that can transform our outlook on life.
